Welcome to The Purple House, a hidden gem nestled in the charming town of North Yarmouth, Maine. This delightful café is a must-visit for locals and travelers alike, offering a cozy escape filled with fantastic coffee, delectable pastries, and a warm, inviting atmosphere.

As you step through the door of The Purple House, you’ll be greeted by a quaint space that exudes charm and character. The cozy interior feels like a home away from home, featuring a single communal table perfect for sharing laughter and stories with friends or fellow patrons. The friendly staff radiate warmth, ensuring every visitor feels cared for and appreciated. Shane Gee perfectly sums this up with his review, noting the friendly staff and cozy vibe, while also emphasizing the ample food choices that make every visit exciting.

When it comes to the menu, The Purple House prides itself on creativity and freshness. From their rich, aromatic lattes served in generous mugs to their unique bagels that pack a flavor punch, every dish tells a story. Some customer favorites include the rosemary sea salt and maple sugar bagels, which have received rave reviews for their deliciousness from patrons like Caty B. Additionally, the café boasts an incredible selection of baked goods, including the much-loved smoked maple tart—a treat that Jacob Lotstein claims stands among the finest he has encountered, rivaling even the best bakeries across Europe.

Tim van Dalen recalls a delightful Thursday morning spent enjoying a perfectly crafted cappuccino and fresh bagels, suggesting that The Purple House is the perfect stop to kickstart your day with joy. Customers rave about the exceptional ambiance, with Tim saying the vibe is especially inviting before the lunch crowd arrives. If you’re contemplating a trip to Maine, Josh Palmieri asserts that this café is a definitive must-stop. His visit during the 2018 Jaguar Wild Blueberry Blast Event made for a memorable experience, blending local culture with delicious food.

While the indoor seating options may be limited, especially during the colder months, the charm of grabbing a flavorful pastry to-go is an experience in itself. Deborah Penham hints at this, giving a nod to the delightful lattes and recommending the takeaway option for those looking to enjoy their treats amidst the picturesque landscape of North Yarmouth.

In conclusion, The Purple House isn’t just a café; it’s a delightful experience waiting to be savored. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, stop by for a comforting cup of coffee, indulge in scrumptious baked goods, and embrace the cozy atmosphere that has many customers coming back for more.

I will echo what many others have said - the food here is outstanding. In my opinion, this stands among the best bakeries I've ever been to including (insert one of several fancy schmancy European cities). The options are numerous, creative, delicious and simply incredible. As you stand in the cramped quarters, plate after plate of new baked items comes out of the oven. The smoked maple tart is a favorite as are their chocolate chip cookies which are my favorite in Maine so far (assuming you're a crispy cookie guy like myself). I haven't even mentioned what they're actually famous for which are their delicious bagel sandwiches. You can get everything from a classic lox and cream cheese to sea urchin terrine with apple cider gelee. Which, by the way, is amazing. The downside? The experience is unique and for some might not be what they expect. The entire operation including cooking area, restaurant storage, cash register and the single table for 8 are all squashed into a tiny one room cottage. Don't expect to find easy parking. Expect to wait a while in lines. Don't be surprised if there's no seating available. But if you enter with an idea of what The Purple House is (and some extra time in case it takes a while), you will not be disappointed.

Wow very nice we pulled up on a random thursday morning and were just in time before the crowd came in. Ordered some latte and cappucino which were very good and also had a few bagels with salmon, wow very nice bagels! Would highly reccommend this place to visit !

This place is cute. It’s super tiny (there’s only one inside table, it’s like a picnic bench). It’s basically the downstairs of a very small house. The lattes are really yummy, and they’re served in nice large mugs that fit well in your hands. The bagels are good, but they’re not anything too special. They’re kind of hard, and stuff spills out a bit. The other food they serve, however, is really delicious. The pizza is really good, and the salads are super! They’ve got some baked treats as well. If you go on a nice day they have tables outside you can use. If you sit at the inside table you’ll be surrounded by windows, which is nice. And you can watch the action in the kitchen, which is right in front of you. Cute place! I’d recommend giving it a try.

The inside is small but charming--the oven added not only warmth but character. Our bagels (rosemary sea salt and maple sugar) were delicious! The staff was very friendly, too. We got a pastry to go and it was well-worth it, flavorful and fresh. In the winter it's better to grab your food and go, as there is barely any seating inside.
